Congratulations to Kailyn Lowry who has officially given birth to her fourth son Thursday July 30th! The baby boy arrived at 2:47 p.m. He is 8 lbs., 15 oz. and 22.5 inches long. Kail confirmed the birth to E! News. Kailyn has been working on a name for her fourth son so she wouldn’t be caught in the same situation she was with Lux, having no name picked out until well after his arrival, but she has not named the baby yet.
“No name yet but we are all healthy and so in love,” Kailyn said. “I can check giving birth during a pandemic off my bucket list now.”
Kailyn was able to have a home birth despite her claims of being a “high risk” pregnancy. Kailyn shared on the Coffee Convos podcast that doctors advised her to give birth in a hospital. “I know that I’m anemic and I’ve known that I’m anemic for years, but he was telling me how he wanted to make sure I was taking my iron and I said, ‘Yeah,’ and he told me that with every pregnancy you lose more blood, which is new to me.”
“This is now the third doctor that’s giving me a different reason for why I should be induced instead of home birth… And then on top of it said, ‘Because you’re anemic, because you lose more blood with every baby, we wouldn’t want to see you get a blood transfusion.”
Thankfully, it does not look like Kailyn had any complications during her home birth. It is unlikely that the baby’s father, Chris Lopez, was present for the birth. “My mental health and CONSISTENCY in my sons’ lives are more important than he said/she said,” she wrote in an Instagram Q&A last month. “As their mother, I know in my heart I’m doing what I believe to be best. I’m sorry if everyone disagrees. … Why would I make the call to someone who has not been helpful, consistent, empathetic or compassionate for the entire 9 months? Says he doesn’t care but thinks he should be included in the birth? Make it make sense.“
On another episode of Coffee Convos Kailyn talked about whether the birth will be featured on ‘Teen Mom 2.’ “I definitely want to do a home birth, and I’m going to film it…I hope,” she said. “I say that now, but when I’m in active labor I don’t know what I’m going to do.”
This will be amazing to see if Kailyn did manage to film since it will be the only home birth ever featured on the show. “They’ve never seen a home birth… I told one of the producers, ‘I’m definitely willing to film it as much as I can on my own, but I do not want the crew there.’”
Season 10 of ‘Teen Mom 2’ will begin on September 1st! Watch the first sneak peek of the new season here.
