Kailyn Lowry discussed her future on ‘Teen Mom 2’ in the latest episode of her podcast ‘Baby Mamas No Drama.’ This comes two months after co-star Chelsea Houska announced her departure from the show. Chelsea and husband Cole DeBoer decided that they no longer wanted to film now that Aubree is entering her teen years.
Kailyn and Leah Messer are the only moms left from the original four chosen to star in ‘Teen Mom 2.’ Jenelle Evans was fired by MTV in 2019. Unfortunately for Jenelle, she didn’t get the nice send off and closure that Chelsea has received the season finale. Her departure was abrupt and hardly even addressed on the show.
On the podcast a fan asked if kail if she saw herself being the next cast member to leave ‘Teen Mom 2.’ “I would say yes,” she explained. “It’s hard for me, and I said it when Chelsea announced her exit, one of the things for me is the worst that I’ve ever done has already been filmed. So at this point I’m getting paid to do my regular life and I’m not making those same mistakes.”
Kail goes on to say that a lot of what happened in seasons 1 and 2 of TM2 “wasn’t real.” She said she can’t bring herself to watch those season and isn’t happy that they are now streaming on Netflix.
“I would like a more private life. I would not do a reality show that is so invasive ever again. That all being said, if the show was to end next year obviously I’m still on it. But if it continues for another 5 years I would hope that I am replacing that income with other things that I’m doing. And I could walk away on my own terms.”
“I think that there’s a lot to be said about the effect that reality tv has had on me. I am forever going to be known and people are going to perceive me as this character on a show that I can’t take away.”
