While reflecting on last years season of ‘Teen Mom OG’ Maci admitted that she came off poorly in a scene about her son Bentley maintaining weight for wrestling.

In the scene Maci said that Bentley was on a strict diet to ‘cut weight’ so that he could stay in a lower weight class and have a better chance of winning.
“I shouldn’t have used that term because there’s such a thing as cutting weight and that is not healthy,” Maci told Us Weekly in an interview promoting the new season of ‘Teen Mom OG.’

Maci went on to clarify that what she meant was that Bentley would go from drinking chocolate milk and eating Doritos to making healthy choices instead.
“It was not a lose weight diet. It was just so he could maintain his weight class and not have two pounds of Doritos and Snickers bars. … I’m just trying to teach Bentley like, ‘Hey, if you start eating like this, you’re going to like it. You’re going to feel better and you won’t have to starve.”

Bookout also explained that she knew she would get a backlash for that scene. She said she knew she was “being a butthead,” and that she was in a terrible mood while filming that day.

“A lot of people do not understand the sport of wrestling and how it works. When you enter a weight class you have to weigh in at your weight… it was just for him to maintain his weight class… If you’re not maintaining your weight in a healthy way with a healthy diet then wrestlers will resort to cutting weight. They want to eat whatever they want and then starve to death for two days. And that is definitely not gonna fly in my house.”
