Kailyn Lowry Files Lawsuit Against ‘Teen Mom 2’ Co-Star Briana DeJesus

‘Teen Mom 2’ star Kailyn Lowry has officially taken her ongoing feud with co-star Briana DeJesus to the courts. On Thursday July 8th, E! News reported that Kailyn filed a lawsuit against Briana in Florida for defamation.

The court documents state that the defendant (DeJesus) “asserted that Lowry physically beat Christopher Lopez, the father of two of Lowry’s sons, and broke into and entered the home of Mr. Lopez’s mother.“

Kailyn’s representative released the following statement, “Kail is disheartened by the recent untrue statements made by her fellow castmate, Briana Dejesus, concerning Kail’s absence from a recent episode and involvement in crimes that she never committed. Kail takes these statements very seriously. After necessary self-reflection, Kail has decided to handle this situation with Ms. Dejesus by exercising her legal right to protect herself and her brand in Court.“

This all stems from an episode in which Kailyn was not featured due to her refusal to film about an incident involving Chris Lopez cutting Lux’s hair. Back in September of 2020 Kailyn was arrested for allegedly assaulting Chris over her son’s unexpected hair cut. Kailyn pleaded not guilty and denied that the assault happened. Chris later decided not to follow through with pressing charges.

When Kailyn refused to film about the situation Briana decided to give her opinion to Celebuzz stating, “Like Kail is sitting on the show legitimately filming about a wallpaper color choice when she could be filming about a domestic abuse situation with Chris that I was told she was trying to hide. This was back when [her son] Lux’s hair was cut and she was allegedly arrested after allegedly getting into a physical altercation with Chris. While I understand Kail—and all of us—want to be shown overcoming our struggles and that we all take pride in our names (and Kail takes pride in her brand and her podcasts) at the end of the day she shouldn’t try to cover up the real her or things that are going on in her real life. It comes off as exceptionally inauthentic and an insult to her other cast members.“

Briana seemed to feel her comments were necessary because, “as a cast member who takes pride in being my authentic self and telling my full, true story—the good, the bad, the ugly, and everything in between—I would be remiss to not address the situation.“

Briana took this a step further by going on Instagram Live, telling fans, “I got some information about Kail and why she wasn’t on tonight’s episode. I got true sources, true facts, from the people that work in production… I know the real story, I know what happened.” Briana claimed that Kailyn “beat” her ex Chris and even broke into his mother’s home.

Kailyn’s legal team, however, stated in the court documents that “Lowry did not break into and enter the home of Mr. Lopez’s mother. Nor did Ms. Lowry beat Mr. Lopez.” Kail wants compensation for damages and for Briana to pay her attorney fees. She’s also requesting a trial by jury!
