On Monday April 18th, 2022, a judge dismissed ‘Teen Mom 2’ star Kailyn Lowry’s defamation lawsuit against co-star Briana DeJesus. Kail filed the lawsuit in July of 2021 after Briana interviewed and spoke publicly on social media about an alleged physical altercation between Kailyn and her ex-boyfriend (and father of her two sons Lux and Creed), Chris Lopez.
Briana claimed that Kailyn physically assaulted Chris after he cut their son’s hair without her permission. She also stated that Kailyn broke into Lopez’s mother’s home. The lawsuit has been featured on the current season of ‘Teen Mom 2.’
Unfortunately for Kail the connection that the situation has to a reality television show is a large part of why the case was dismissed. There were a few other technical reasons for why Kailyn lost. One of which, according to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, was that Kailyn didn’t give Briana notice of the coming lawsuit. “The judge ruled that Kail did not provide Briana proper notification of the lawsuit before she filed it.” It was also reported that because Kailyn was indeed arrested for a domestic dispute with Chris, that Briana’s statements were not defamatory. (Even though nothing ever came from the arrest, no charges were pressed… AND the statement about Kailyn breaking and entering was determined to be untrue.)
Briana was clearly ecstatic that the ruling was in her favor as she made several social media posts about the win, calling Kailyn a “clown” and telling her to “s*ck my d*ck.” She continued rubbing the victory in Kailyn’s face on Instagram stating, “I guess I put my money where my mouth was,” she wrote. “I guess I can talk my s**t now huh?”
Kailyn responded to the ruling on Instagram. “While today’s ruling is unfortunate, I have to respect the judge’s decision,” Kail wrote. “With that being said, I stand by my truth and the information spread about me was and still is not true. I would like to thank my legal team for fighting for me and I am looking forward to life after this lawsuit so I can refocus my energy solely on my boys and my future business endeavors.”
Briana has filed a motion to recover her legal fees which means Kailyn could be looking at having to pay DeJesus over $120,000. They have yet to come to an agreement about this and Kailyn hasn’t spoken publicly about it. Briana however has had no problem bringing this up on Twitter. “Y’all buggin if you think I’m dropping anything lol I want every cent back plus some if that’s what it takes,” Briana wrote. “It may have just ended for y’all but it just started for me.”
Meanwhile Briana shared screen shots of an amazon cart filled with a clown costume, wig and mirror that she planned to send Kailyn as a “parting gift.” You may remember Briana sent Kail a treadmill last year in an apparent body shaming dig.
