Kailyn Lowry Announces Her Departure from ‘Teen Mom 2’ After 12 Years

It’s the end of an era! As the cast of ‘Teen Mom 2’ prepares to transition into the new show, ‘Teen Mom: The Next Chapter,’ Kailyn Lowry has officially announced that she will no longer film for the franchise.

Kailyn has made social media posts and discussed her departure on her various podcasts, but she made things official this week when she told Dr. Drew and Nessa during the ‘Teen Mom 2’ reunion special.

When Dr. Drew asked Kailyn if she wanted to film for the show she replied “no” and further explained, “I think I need to move on… think I need to do my own thing. I think this needs to be my farewell. I think I’m ready.

I think that we should part ways,” she said. “I think this should be the end.” Kailyn has filmed for MTV for 12 years; her episode of 16 & Pregnant aired in April of 2010.

Dr. Drew praised Kailyn for sharing her story over the years and for helping lead a decline in the birth rate among United States teens. “I hope so. I hope I had a small part in that,” Kail replied.
